Should FCS Be Next? (Analysis)
When Secretary of Defense Robert Gates demanded the resignations of the secretary and chief of staff of the Air Force, some of the media coverage noted that one of the many reasons was the Air Force's persistence in advocating still more F-22 aircraft purchases, despite the Raptor's complete irrelevance, and non-appearance, in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Secretary Gates has also questioned the relevance of the Army's extraordinarily costly and complex Future Combat System (FCS). In an insightful analysis of the Future Combat System, Straus Military Reform Project Research Assistant Valerie Reed and CDI Research Assistant Jessica Guiney explain why Mr. Gates has every reason to be extremely concerned.

CDI Research Analyst Victoria Samson explains why in her analysis entitled "The Muddled Picture of Missile Defense Success. 26 for 27 missile defense successes: Not quite what it seems."
